A ferry has run from here since 1200AD interrupted only during plague,
piracy or war. The ferry was for passengers only, in days past, their
horses had to swim the river! Bawdsey has a local shop and a local
pub/inn. Across the waters at Old Felixstowe are a further two pubs and
you can also enjoy fresh fish caught locally and sold on the beach.
